Open Day and Flea Market 2012

On April 14th, we invited everybody to join us for our annual Open Day and Flea Market at our premises. Although we had feared that because of the term breaks at the international schools we would have fewer visitors, a lot of people actually came to enjoy the late afternoon/early evening at the MGS.

As always we could count on the German cakes to be a huge success and we’d like to thank Simone Schanz and all those who baked for the cake stall. People could hunt for bargains at the flea market stalls and the kids were thrilled with our newly acquired “Torwand”. All the while on our lawn, the German car manufacturers BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz were exhibiting their latest and most popular car models.

Shortly after the beginning of our Open Day, a movie was shown in one of our classrooms. Taken by our own German language students and produced by our teacher Julia Brassat, the movie “Deutsch ist cool” showed what our students like about Germany, German language and culture. After that, the newest Art Exhibition “German Tigers” was opened by our President, Karl Ebinger, and the principal of the Equator Academy of Art, Datuk Chuah Kooi Yong. Later, a number of interested parents and students listened to a talk and presentation about “Studying in Germany”, which was held by our teacher Julia Brassat.

Long after the official program was over, people stayed to talk and to enjoy German Bratwurst with mashed potatoes and Sauerkraut as well as the occasional beer. We hope everybody enjoyed it as much as we did.
